The MOT2K is a light circuit breaker test set capable of delivering 2000 AMPS of short circuit current. In addition, the MOT2K sources and measures AC voltage in ranges of 0 to 300 and 0 to 600 VAC. It also features a 0 to 175V DC supply suitable for circuit breaker minimum trip and operate time tests. The MOT2K measures voltage, current and elapsed time.

Photo below shows AC current mode of the MOT2K. The operator can perform time element tests to 1000 AMPS and instantaneous and short time element tests to 2000 AMPS. Timer mode can be selected to stop on operation of an "A" contact, a "B" contact, or a protective device trip that opens the current circuit. The action that stopped the timer will be displayed on the screen. Contact LED illuminates on continuity between the timer stop input terminals allowing convenient sensing of operate point.

Photo below shows DC mode of the MOT2K. The test set will source DC voltages to 170VAC with a rated continuous current of 4A. 12A is available for .5 seconds to facilitate breaker trip testing. Breaker operation may be timed and a pulse mode permits consistent measurement of minimum trip voltage without the danger of damage to the trip coil that might otherwise be caused by extended application of voltage below the operate point. Both DC current and voltage are measured and displayed. This DC source is balanced to ground, filtered, and suitable for powering switchgear and protective relay systems for test purposes.
The MOT2K performs the following tests and functions
Test simple overcurrent relays.
Test motor protection (thermal overload) relays.
Test low voltage ground fault devices at up to 2000 AMPS.
Test low voltage circuit breakers up to 300 AMPS.
Test AC and DC over and under voltage relays at up to 600 volts AC, 175VDC.
Supply power for test of control circuits and other general uses.
Supply an ungrounded (balanced to ground) DC source for powering 125V, 48V, and 24V DC devices and switchgear for test purposes.
Perform as an emergency 125V or 48V battery charger.
Perform minimum trip and close tests of DC operated circuit breakers.
Time the operation of DC operated circuit breakers.
Perform pickup and dropout tests of AC and DC operated relays.
Calibrate and verify time delay relays in industrial control circuits, AC or DC.
